In a dispute between state tax officials and Cincinnati’s professional baseball team, the Ohio Supreme Court today quoted the team’s longtime radio announcer by declaring, “This one belongs to the Reds.”

Toledo drops 72-56 decision to No. 2 Notre Dame at home

Toledo did more than hold its own against defending national champion Notre Dame in Savage Arena Saturday, December 8, but it just wasn't enough, as the Midnight Blue & Gold suffered a 72-56 setback. The non-conference match-up was played before 6,059 fans in Savage Arena, the third-largest crowd in school history. The loss snaps UT's four-game winning streak and drops its record to 6-3 on the season.

UT’s Cody Thompson named Second-Team Academic All-America

Toledo senior wide receiver Cody Thompson (Huron, Ohio) has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is Toledo's first Academic All-American since Dan Molls earned first-team honors in 2012.

Toledo moves up to No. 6 in top 25 poll

Toledo moved up three spots in this week's Mid-Major Top 25 poll released on Monday evening and are now ranked No. 6. The Rockets extended their winning streak to seven games last week with a 101-57 victory over Detroit Mercy and a 75-74 (OT) win at 2018 NCAA Tournament participant Marshall.

Kroger shooting suspect charged with federal hate crimes and firearm offenses

Gregory A. Bush, 51, was indicted recently by a federal grand jury on hate crime and firearm charges arising out of the racially motivated murder of two African-American patrons at a Kroger grocery store, and the attempted murder of a third, on Oct. 24 in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. The indictment was announced by Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband for the Civil Rights Division, U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman, and FBI Louisville Special Agent in Charge James Robert Brown, Jr.

Ohio's young hunters harvest more than 6,500 deer during youth gun season

Ohio’s young hunters had a successful weekend and checked 6,563 white-tailed deer during the two-day youth gun season, Nov. 17-18, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). During last year’s youth gun season, 4,958 white-tailed deer were checked.
