Inaugural Rockets’ Wine Night set for Wednesday, Feb. 21 vs. EMU

Toledo will hold its 12th-annual 'Rockets for the Cure' day on Saturday, Feb. 17, as the Midnight Blue & Gold entertain Western Michigan at 2:00 p.m. in Savage Arena. BWC awards $377,000 in grants to protect Ohio firefighters

Leader of Las Vegas to Columbus marijuana ring sentenced

Adrian A. Douglas, 48, of Columbus, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 144 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Douglas led a Central Ohio marijuana trafficking ring that involved receiving UPS shipments of the drug from Las Vegas and mailing cash back to the supplier. He pleaded guilty to the two charges in June 2017.

Ohio to share insurance expertise with national insurance organization

Director Jillian Froment announced that the Ohio Department of Insurance is serving on 18 National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) committees and task forces in 2018 to collaborate with other states on critical insurance matters such as innovation and technology, protecting seniors, fighting fraud, appropriate business conduct, and the effective financial condition monitoring of companies. Froment will serve as Vice Chair of the Life Insurance and Annuities Committee.

UT’s Woodside, Adeniyi chosen to participate in 2018 NFL Combine

Former Toledo football players Logan Woodside and Olasunkanmi Adeniyi have been chosen to participate in the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the NFL recently announced. The combine will take place from Feb. 27-March 5.
