Former Parma insurance salesman sentenced to more than three years in prison for tax fraud

A former Parma insurance salesman was sentenced to more than three years in prison for failing to file income tax returns and failing to pay taxes, announced Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and Acting U.S. Attorney David A. Sierleja for the Northern District of Ohio.

UT’s Zach Garber and Jordan Lauf named to NABC Honors Court

University of Toledo men's basketball players Zach Garber and Jordan Lauf have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for a second-consecutive season. Garber and Lauf each graduated from UT following the 2016-17 academic year. To be eligible, a student-athlete has to be a member of the varsity squad with junior or senior status and hold a cumulative 3.2 GPA or higher at the conclusion of the academic year.

Ohio crews responding to help fight western wildfires

A 20-person Ohio wildfire crew from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) left Friday morning to travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they will assist with fighting wildfires. Additionally, a wildfire crew consisting of three people and one wildfire engine left on Wednesday to travel to Phoenix, Arizona, where they will be dispatched from the Southwest Coordination Center to help fight wildfires in the region.

UT’s Elijah Nkansah named to Outland Trophy watch list

Toledo senior offensive lineman Elijah Nkansah (Mason, Ohio) was named to the official watch list for the Outland Trophy. The Outland Trophy is given annually to the nation's top interior lineman. Nkansah is one of only six players from the Mid-American Conference to make the watch list.
